ABOUT TRAINWRECK
Though Bridgeport, CT-based Calzone Case Company dominates the professional case industry, don't even think about 'boxing in' TRAINWRECK to one musical genre: just like the manufacturer they represent - they can do it all!
The music industry is certainly no stranger to the men of TRAINWRECK; the bandmates of this seven-piece powerhouse have been designing and producing the world's highest-quality cases for demanding musicians since the 1970's. In fact, with the exception of 17 yr. sax prodigy Danny Lipsitz (son of Calzone's patent attorney), every member of TRAINWRECK is a current employee of Calzone; collectively they have logged over 125 years of service with the company!
Company Founder / President Joe Calzone is the group's drummer, proving once and for all that a good, solid beat and knowing when to hit hard works outside of the business world just as well! He's joined in the group by many of his most trusted corporate associates: Don Sessions plays percussion and handles Corporate Development during the day; Dan Sawyer plays guitar, sings like a young Billy Joel, and still endeavors to pump out more sales orders; co-lead vocalist Jim Monroe comes from Calzone Case Company's Accounting Division and handles the soul melodies in the group's repertoire; Rusty Corso plays bass and handles Operations 9 to 5, while Production Coordinator Glen Masso is the group's unsung Mozart - his amazing keyboard chops are critical to TRAINWRECK's performances of Elton John, Billy Joel and other classic material.
Veterans of the local club scenes, the group's members have been sitting in with each other's bands for years. They had always mused about forming their own 'in-house' band, but never quite got around to it, until the Fortune Battle Of The Corporate Bands gave them the ultimate opportunity to form TRAINWRECK.
Though Calzone Case Company (and sister company Anvil Cases) had access to a national pool of talent to draw from, the decision was made in May to keep the home field advantage. Not only could they rehearse locally to make the music tight as a snug-fitting roadcase, TRAINWRECK was afforded greater opportunity to explore their diverse musical backgrounds. With interests and experience ranging from classical to jazz and folk to Motown, the band can literally perform any kind of music ... and they do it well!
Their set at NAMM 2007 in Austin proved TRAINWRECK's versatility and reaffirmed their great sound and inspiring musical selection. From The Beatles' 'Lady Madonna' to Elton John's epic 'Funeral For A Friend' and 'Love Lies Bleeding', they segued into Marvin Gaye's classic 'What's Goin' On', before slaying the crowd with a complete, super-emotive and note-for-note interpretation of Billy Joel's 'Scenes From An Italian Restaurant'.
Finding TRAINWRECK's bandleader is where it all gets even more interesting. According to Rusty Corso, "In almost every band there is 'the leader' - the guy that picks the songs, books the gigs and arranges the music. But not so with TRAINWRECK. We mutually decided to play this material; it's all the music we grew up with and loved. We get together once a week - after work - in the warehouse to practice our material. The guys in the factory get a big kick out of it, and many stay around 'off the clock' to hear us. Our company parties will certainly never be the same, and win or lose, this competition has not only unified our team, it's re-unified Calzone's position in the music industry!"
TRAINWRECK sounds like a musicial exploration where everybody wins. So, if you need to hire one of the best good old-fashioned 'rock 'n' roll bands', or if you just want to buy a great flight case, call TRAINWRECK.
